Modern Farmhouse
The clients purchased this lush half acre property because of its location in the prime, upscale town of Ross, CA. The existing house was very tired and had little redeeming value. Though the site was endowed with mature trees and a seasonal creek at the rear of the property, it fronted on one of the main arteries running through the valley. We designed the new house to face inward to the site forming a private and peaceful sanctuary. The entry opens to the dining and living–a twelve foot high space with floor to ceiling windows to the landscape. The kitchen fills out the main public space and the primary bedroom completes the rear window wall. Secondary bedrooms, baths, family room, and laundry occupy the forward portion of the house.
